iv)Hostel accommodation : 

There are at present six hostels in the University campus.These hostels are:3 for male students and 3 for female students having approximately 460 single and shared room accomodation. The hostels are furnished with basic facilities . Hostel seats are limited and every student may not get the seat in hostel. Availibility of seats deped upon the vacancy in the hostel. A separate Booklet for for every hostel boarders regarding rules and regulations of the hostel is also available. For every hostel, there is a hostel warden who is the in-charge of the hostel. 

v)Transport facility :  

In addition to state transport bus services, six buses are also available for the benefit of the students. There are also three buses for the staff members of the Universitycommutingbetween Silchar and University Campus.

vi)Gymnasium:

A well equipped Gymnasium exists for both  ladiesc and gents. Interested students , faculty, staff members can enroll their name for availing facilities in the Gymnasium.

vii)NSS Activity:

Students are encouraged in participating NSS (National Service Scheme) activities organised by the Programme Officer and Coordinator, NSS Unit of Assam University. NSS is sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), Govt. of India.

viii)NCC Training:

The NCC Units in Assam University arrange NCC training for the students of the University-both boys and girls. For enlisting names for NCC training, the contact person will be the Dean, Students'Welfare(DSW) , Assam University.

ix)Career councelling and placement cell:

The placement cell of the University extend councelling services to all placement aspirants. The cell's activities include organization of workshops and lectures by  corporate professionals and placement consultants and preparation of students'resume/biodata/curriculum vitae and placement brochure. The placement cells in the various departments of the University are currently engaged in developing detailed Employer's database that would help the students to trace out employment opportunities in India and abroad. Many companies had participated during last couple of year's placement programme.The companies include: IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank,TCS,HSBC Global outsourcing, Stock Holding Corporation of India, Wipro BPO, Tata Motor Finance, PRADAN,CAPART,Axis Bank,ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company and many more.Prof. C.R Bhattacharjee from the Department of Chemistry has been appointed as coordinator of the cell.

x)Fellowship:

Assam Iniversity provides AUS-UGC fellowship. Students are also encouraged to avail Meritorius Students Fellowship. ICSSR Fellowship,JRF/SRF,INSPIRE Fellowship,CSIR etc. for general and MNAF for Minoroty M.Phil/Ph.D scholars and Dr. D S Kothari Fellowship for Post Doctoral Scholars and Rajib Gandhi Fellowship for SC/ST scholars. 

xi)Major Scientific Equipments  :  

With the one time assistance from the UGC and the funds available from other agencies like DST, DAE and CSIR the various Science Departments have procured the following sate-of-the-art instruments :
