Departmental Profile: The
Department of History was started on the commencement of the
Diphu Campus of Assam University in 2007. From odd semester,
2010 onwards the department was shifted to the Main Campus in 8th
Mile, Lumding Road, Diphu. At present the Department offers Post
Graduate Courses with specialization in Modern Indian History,
and envisages starting specialization course in Medieval Indian
History soon. Besides imparting normal academic curriculum, the
department seeks to infuse research temper to the students so
that North East Indian History may be connected to the
mainstream of Indian history and also project the history of the
region to the World. The department organizes seminars, symposia
and workshops, etc. every now and then.
