Departmental Profile:
The Department of Physics had its inception in 2007
along with the establishment of the Diphu Campus. Three years
on, the department is marching ahead with its sincere goal of
being a preferred destination of students and researchers of the
north east as well as rest of India. Presently, the department
is offering a four semester post graduate (M Sc) programme under
Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and Ph D programme through a
one semester course work followed by research work.
In the third and fourth semesters of the M. Sc.
programme, students can opt for specialization in one of the
following: Condensed Matter Physics, Non-Linear Optics &
Laser Spectroscopy, Advanced Quantum Field Theory.
The department is equipped with a well ordered laboratory
that provides facility to perform experiments in areas like
Fibre Optics, Laser Spectroscopy, Analog and Digital
Electronics, High Temperature Superconductivity, etc. The
laboratory is also equipped with modest computer facility.
The
department has started research work in Thermoluminescence
studies and other optical properties of nanomaterials.
