Departmental Profile

Established in July 1995, the Department of Sociology under the School of Social Sciences envisages to offering M.A and PhD programme of study. The department puts systematic and adequate emphasis to promote inter-disciplinary study and research vis-a-vis develop understanding about people of the Barak Valley especially by unraveling historico-social, intellectual and cultural matrix. The department has chosen culture and development as the thrust area of study and research.
