Departmental Profile – Life Science & Bio-informatics
About the dept: The Department of Life Science & Bio-informatics is one of the first six Departments of Assam University, Diphu Campus that started functioning from July 2007. The Department offers a four semester Master of Science Program in Life Science with specialization in Microbial Ecology; Taxonomy of Angiosperm and Medicinal Plant studies; Biochemistry & Molecular Biology; Molecular Genetics. The Department has well equipped Laboratories with experimental facilities in PCR, Spectrophotometer, Electrophoresis, Chromatography and basic instruments for Biochemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Biology. Specialization is offered in the third semester of the course. In the fourth semester project work in specialized field is mandatory. The class rooms of the Department are equipped with modern audio visual devices like smart board, LCD display solution to enhance and augment the teaching – learning process.
