Department of Physics
The Department of Physics is one of the first six Departments of Assam University, Diphu Campus that started functioning from July 2007. The department offers specialisation in Condensed Matter Physics, Non-linear Optics & Laser Spectroscopy and Advanced Quantum field theory in Master of Science Programme in Physics. Specialisation is offered in the third semester of the course. In the fourth semester project work in specialised field is mandatory.
Adequate library and internet facility is offered through the Central Library and the Computer Centre. MSc laboratories include: General Lab I & General Lab II, Optics & Holography lab, XRD lab, CMP spl. Lab, NLO spl. Lab, QFT spl. Lab and General Computer Lab. Laboratories are equipped with experimental facilities in Analog & Digital lectronics, Fibre Optics, Laser Optics and Spectroscopy, Nuclear Physics, Plasma Diagnostic, X-ray crystallography and a modest computational facility. The class rooms have modern audio visual devices like smart board, LCD display solution to enhance and augment the teaching – learning process.
